Oradell NJ is a suburb of New York City located about 15 miles form Manhattan.  Bordering the towns of River Edge, New Milford, Dumont, Haworth, and Emerson, Oradell encompasses approximately 2.6 square miles in northern Bergen County . Oradell is widely known as a quaint small town with bustling downtown, lovely older and newer homes, great schools, and easy transportation into Manhattan.  In 2016 Oradell topped the NJ Monthly list of Best Towns to Live in New Jersey.

Oradell Schools

Oradell is served by 2 boards of education serving students from Pre Kindergarten to High School.  Pre K to 6th grade students attend the Oradell Public School located at 350 Prospect Avenue.  7th and 8th grade students attend River Dell Middle School located at 230 Woodland Avenue River Edge.  9th to 12th grade students attend River Dell High School located at 55 Pyle Street Oradell. The River Dell School District is a regional district with neighboring River Edge.  These schools offer extracurricular activities in an array of activities including sports, student government, band, educational clubs and more.

Public Transportation

  • Oradell has both train and bus service connecting throughout Bergen County and to New York City.  Bus lines runs along Kinderkamack Rd.  The train line at Oradell Station runs on the Pascack Valley Line and goes to Secaucus and Hoboken with connections to Manhattan and beyond.

Things to do in Oradell NJ

Oradell may be best known for its quaint downtown with shops and restaurants but there is much to do here.  Oradell downtown stretches along Kinderkamack Rd with many businesses between Ridgewood Rd and Oradell Avenue.  You can take an art class at Clay Paper Scissors, watch a play at the Bergen County Players, or enjoy a coffee at Caffeine.  Oradell Train Station is not just a place to commute into NYC, it is also a glimpse into the past as the station has been at Maple and Oradell Aves since 1890.

The Oradell Public Library is located at 375 Kinderkamack rd and offers not only a wide variety of books and periodicals but also programs for patrons young and old.  Memorial Park is a great place for little league, basketball, soccer, or just a trip to the playground.  If you are into history take a stroll by the old Hackensack water Company Plant on the border of New Milford or drive by the Blauvelt Mansion on Kinderkamack Rd.
